daddy danny

last night i was running around the house doing miscellaneous tasks-dishes, folding laundry, all those end of the day kind of things. I was in my closet hanging up clothes when i heard dan singing to eden over the monitor while he put her to bed. he was singing some song that was part hymn, part children's song, and part made up to insert names of family members like lucy (the dog is first of course), uncle ben, baby silkie (whose real name is sylvie, but we like eden's version too), and many other sweet things. i just sat on the bed to listen for a moment and say a short prayer thanking God for my husband, eden's father.

so, in the spirit of father's day, here are some of my favorite things about dan as a father:

--he calls eden 'sweet pea'

--he likes to take her on errands to the hardware store and lets her help him 'fix' things

--he kisses her at least 10 times a day, if not 100.

--i will catch him looking at her and then he always says to me 'she's so beautiful'

--he gets up extra early many mornings to go for a run with his 'girls' (lucy and eden) so his other girl can have a little break

--he helps her dress her dolls and 'cook' in her kitchen

--he sacrifices what little free time he has at the end of the day to put her to bed (in doing this sings their sweet made up songs, reads the bible and prays with her too)

--he is patient and calm when she acts naughty (like toddlers sometimes do)

--he is patient and calm when her mom goes all nutso drama queen after a long day (like moms sometimes do)

--he works hard everyday so he can take care of us and spend time with us
