eden and i escaped from houston to iowa until power is restored and things start to get a little more back to normal after the hurricane. i grew up in iowa and couldn't wait to leave, but since i have lived away for more than a decade now, i think my perspective has changed. eden is only two, and has traveled her fair share in her short life, but i'm pretty sure iowa is her number one pick (this is out of choices such as africa and mexico...). i think here are some reasons why:
--constant grandparent access
--we can walk everywhere
--there is no more beautiful weather anywhere than in the fall in iowa
--the big outing of our day is to go to walmart or get a donut from the dutch bakery
--the grass is green and soft and the yards are wide and clean
--we can walk a few blocks across the highway to see hundreds of cows mooing their hearts out
--life is just slower than the city in the best possible way
--my 1st grade niece and 3rd grade nephew ride their scooters to and from school everyday
--we can pick apples right off the tree in the yard and eat them
