little hands

this morning i had a glimpse of the future. and it was bittersweet.

i was bringing eden to 'school' (i.e., mom's day out at church); usually she holds my hand until i release her to her teacher over the half door of the classroom. this morning, as soon as we got inside the double doors of the building, she let go of my hand and ran ahead to her room. i love that she is becoming more and more independent, but i hope she still needs to hold my hand for many more years to come. i think i might need it more than she does sometimes....
