what's in a name?

tonight after dinner we read a family devotional about how we are created in God's image.

here is an excerpt:

dan reading: 'when God created adam--'

eden interrupting: 'not like mr adam, emma kate's daddy, but mr adam and miss eve, right daddy.'

dan reading: 'when God created adam and--'

eden again: 'adam and eve are in my bible upstairs. adam and eve lived in the garden of me.'

dan: 'something like that.'

it's funny, because we did not name eden for the actual garden of eden, we liked a lot of names that started with 'e' and the appeal of the name eden was not only that we like the way it sounded but also it's meaning, which is delightful (or other translations: happiness, paradise).

and most days :), she lives up to the meaning. i think we made the right choice.
