moving out, moving on

we moved out of our first home a few weeks ago. although we are ready for a house better suited to our growing family (no, not pregnant, just meaning when we moved into the house it was dan and i and now it is dan and i + two), it was bittersweet to actually walk out that door for the last time. i really loved our house on e 25th--it was contemporary, the pool was great, i got to decorate just how i wanted. but so much more than that are the things that i am really going to miss--walking down the street to caninos every week to buy fresh produce, the nearby park where eden first learned to slide and swing, joking with the 'tres hermanos' who owned the store on the corner, playing with e on the driveway in the afternoons waiting for dan to arrive home from work so she could run to him and say 'welcome home daddy!!!' with more enthusiasm than imaginable. we already miss our sweet neighbors who have become great friends; with whom we've shared last minute meals and games of catan , since that's what neighbors can do. quite honestly, i feel like our family really began over the time we lived there. we brought two babies home from the hospital there, laughed countless times, cried some, and just lived. i am thankful that it does not take a specific physical place to make somewhere home, and i know we will love our new home and will create memories wherever we live. but it's still like letting a little piece of me go. bye house, it's been good...
