many of our houston friends have heard stories about how midwesterners have a love affair with jello. the droog family is no exception. every year, my dear mother-in-law makes her famous 7 (yes seven) layer jello. it is a painstaking process. first, each layer takes about an hour to set, so there's a whole day right there. on top of that, if your fridge is even a little off balance, your layers aren't straight and you'll have a crisis on your hands. but lila comes through every year, much to the delight of the family, and others of the northwest iowa community.
by the way, the picture does not do it justice:).

mmm mmm mmm...I love me some JELLO!
i haven't heard of this phenomenon, and i'm not sure if its because of my fragile state, but the sight of that striped colorful mush makes me wanna hurl.
yeah... doesn't look very appetising here either. Isn't Jello what they give babies and old people?
Wow, amazing. No one in my Nebraska family even attempts this feat anymore. We just stick with jello jigglers, much easier.
Yumm...If you can believe it, my husband loves to make 7 layer jello on a cold winter day if he's stuck inside. He has more patience than I do. I would never attempt it.
