on vacation bible school--
me: what did y'all talk about today at vbs?
eden: we talked about how we are sinful and how God's love is way bigger than our sin.
carter: i don't remember. but for snack we had popcorn and goldfish. and tomorrow for snack we're having popcorn and oreos. that's why i like vbs.
on birthdays--
carter: i'm almost five. february 12 is really close by. i'm going to have a party with all girls and chapman. and we are going to have steak flavored cake.
on school lunches--
this actually happened a while ago but i wanted to make sure i documented it. my friend megan (who is a wonderfully intentional mother) told me that she draws a cute face on her son's banana for his school lunch. i thought this was a great idea so i drew a big toothy smiley face on carter's banana for lunch one day. after school when i opened his lunch kit to empty and clean it, i found banana smashed all over it.
me: carter, what happened to this banana in your lunch kit?
carter: oh. mom. i opened my lunch and there was a face on my banana and it scared me. like, really scary! so i smashed it up. then i wasn't scared anymore.
me: carter! i drew that face! i thought you would like it.
carter: no. don't do that again.
(a little while later)
carter: mom, you can draw a face on my banana; i won't be scared. just tell me before i go to school.
